Wimbledon 2017, Men’s Outright Betting Preview
Wimbledon gets going on Monday 3rd July and we take a look at the men’s draw and suggest a bet.
This promises to be an exciting and open tournament with question marks around many of the favourites.
Betting – (seeding in brackets) – click here to bet
Roger Federer – 2/1 (3)
Federer will be looking for an 8th Wimbledon title and after sitting out the French Open he should be fresher than his opponents. Seeded 3rd the veteran looks a worthy favourite based on his form this year.
Andy Murray – 7/2 (1)
The defending champion has had a troubled build up to this tournament and he was bundled out of the Aegon championships in the opening round and has some injury concerns.
Rafael Nadal – 17/4 (4)
Nadal looked likely to be fading out of the limelight not that long ago but he has come back perhaps stronger than ever and he won the French Open without conceding a set. He can win on grass but it is certainly not his favourite surface.
Novak Djokovic – 23/4 (2)
Former champion Djokovic has battled to find the consistency that characterised his reign as world number 1 and he has landed a tough draw that could see him taking on Del Potro in the 3rd round.
Milos Raonic – 14/1 (6)
Beat Federer in the semi-finals last year and the pair are seeded to meet in the quarter-finals.
Marin Cilic – 15/1 (7)
A quarterfinalist here for the last 3 years and has proven himself in Grand Slams. He is in Nadal’s bracket and that could be a problem as he has a poor record against Nadal.
Alexander Zverev – 35/2 (10)
He is having a great year which includes a victory over Federer on grass.
Nick Kyrgios – 20/1 (20)
Temperamental but dangerous on this surface if he gets on a run.
Suggested bet: Alexander Zverev win at 35/2
The old guard are proving hard to dislodge from the top of the game but I like this guys chances. He has had some big results this year and while I would love to see Federer win another title it is Zverev who I feel offers a bit of betting value.
