betting exchanges was created by avdberg
Hi,
I joined this forum in the hope that somebody can help me because I just can’t find a betting exchanges or betting site in S.A. that gives the punter lay betting options (placing a bet that the horse will lose instead of win). I was a member of Betfair and Betdaq but both closed the accounts of their S.A. members (some license nonsense). I found that WBX also provided that type of bet but that entire website closed down. Bet365 has that bet but also don’t operate in S.A.
I now have an account with betxchange but only win and place bets are allowed.
I hope there are punters out there that can help me.
Thanking you for your time

WBX went out of business in 2015.

Bet365 don't operate an exchange as such, but simply offer fixed-odds prices (really poor value in my view) for horses not to win/not to be placed.

Bob, I thought Interbet (www.interbet.co.za/exchange.aspx/exchange-betting-sports) offered a trading facility for SA punters, although I've no idea whether or not they cover horse racing - they claim to charge 3% commission per trade. Is this not the case?

Clearly their definition of what constitutes a betting exchange differs from mine and yours.

If it's any help to the original poster, I believe Marathonbet also offer fixed odds 'not to win' prices on most UK racing (with the same wealth warning I gave to Bet365's 'not to win' markets above). I'm no big fan of Marathonbet and stopped using them years ago, but I think they still accept SA customers.

Has been discussed extensively on the site.

Basically you cant lay in SA without a bookmakers licence, it could be argued when you are betting on match betting between 2 horses that could be regarded as laying the other one?

Using a VPN is another way to use betfair where your computer is hidden as far as your location but forex becomes an issue.

If you have a foreign bank acc to fund and withdraw via betfair and use a VPN to play its probably your best option?
