South Africa v Cape Verde World Cup Qualifier Preview
South Africa and Cape Verde clash for the second time in five days on Tuesday night and after their World Cup qualification hopes took a big hit last week this looks like a “must win” game for Bafana.
When the teams met in Cape Verde on Friday Bafana went down 2-1. Despite an early goal from Tokelo Rantie Bafana were behind at half time as Nuno Rocha helped himself to a brace, the second of which came from the penalty spot. There was more bad news in the second half when Eric Mathoho was red carded leaving Bafana to play the final quarter of the match with 10 men.
Few positives could be taken from that overall performance although some sort of silver lining arrived a day later when Burkina Faso and Senegal played out a 0-0 draw to leave Group D wide open.
Cape Verde had lost their first 2 matches in this qualifying group by a 2-0 scoreline whilst Bafana had taken 4 points from their first 2 games, a 1-1 draw at Burkina Faso and 2-1 home win over Senegal. It’s worth noting that Bafana must still visit Senegal which will be a tough test and that makes maximum points from this match and a subsequent home fixture against Burkina Faso essential.
Coach Stuart Baxter has hinted at fielding an adventurous line up but he will also have to make a change in defence with Mathoho suspended.

Bet: Total goals home team, over 1.5 at 17/20
With home advantage this time one would expect Bafana to create more chances than they did on Friday and we fancy they can score at least 2 goals in the match.
