Frodo.
I think the horse will run o. k.
I hope he will run better than o. k.
But he got very sick when Mike de Kock had him in England and he got down very low in terms of his constitution and he no longer has the same depth nor does he carry the same condition he used to as a 3-year-old when formerly trained by Justin Snaith.
I think Justin and his family have done a remarkable job in getting the horse back to this level, but find it near impossible to believe he can win this race. If he does, he is a total tribute to his trainer Justin Snaith.
If, by some miracle, he does run back to his Dubai form, he wins this race hands down based on the weights. When he ran in Dubai, in his second start, he dead-heated with Jay Peg in a Graded event and had Imbongi behind him. Timeform rated him at 122. If he is within 4 to 7 pounds of that night in the desert, he cake walks here.
But I, for one, am not holding my breath.
And I am tired of reading misinformed or forgetful writers when they talk about how crappy his form was in Dubai. Christ, he was ranked fourth in the world at that point!
As for asking a guy like Mike de Kock what strategy he will employ in the July, I think this question is palpably unfair, as it puts him in a position where if truthful he would compromise the chances of himself and his patrons in a sporting contest.
We all think that transparency for punters is important, but punters are not entitled to this information.
I almost pee in my pants when watching your presenters as they query trainers after a winning race what they expect from their horses in later races. C'mon now, gimme a break!

Love the USSR comment and have to wonder if its coincidental or a play on words (USSR - Russian Sage)
The excitement is building on my side - I have that nervous energy that you get on Christmas eve as a child. It is only this event out of all other things on offer that brings on this feeling. I cant wait.
On the good news side it will be blooming hot on Saturday 31 July 2010 - Bring your shades and sunscreen

Come Pocket Power - one more last good run for your fans then you can retire as the peoples champ and be immortilised in the minds of the racing public

Mr Irwin, thanks for the realistic assessment; here's hoping that he will run as per your expectations, or perhaps even above it.
As for your statement on transparency, I think transparency in racing has for a long time, and wil continue to be, an interesting topic to debate.
