Mister a - Craig Evans and Michael Maxworthy were talking SA racing (they show and bet on SA Wednesday meetings in Singapore) and he spoke about something on the SA horseracing website. They sent "a shout out to their good friend Ash"
They then went on to advise punters to use Formgrids as a form study tool for SA racing. I can't quite remember what was said but they spoke highly of formgrids. Something along the lines of "excellent form study tool". Tellytrack is sending you a bill (lol)
Jokes a side, you have a really powerful forstudying tool which unfortunately is not saleable (paid for service) in SA I would guess, largely due to an under developed internet market in our country. We would hope that cheaper and faster internet will happen soon so that this all changes. You just have to look at the near meltdown all of us punters had, when you changed servers, to realise that FG is probably the most widely used form study tool in SA by internet based punters.
I have said it before, I strongly believe that FG would be saleable (pay to use service) in the developed economies of the US, AUS, UK, certain Asian countries. Nothing is for free just look at the UK's Racingpost as an example. Race replays even cost something. You should really have a crack at it.

I agree with Al,in that I would certainly pay a reasonable amount to access formgrids, but I'm not sure how many punters this applies too.
Some years ago I used to frequent Kempton Park tattersalls and do all my racing there. One of the "extreme" cases was a fellow who came in most meetings, would have to borrow a computaform (which cost under R10 at the time) to decide what he should put his R200 on.I could never fathom his aversion to spending 10 to avoid wasting 100's.Over time,I have noticed that, that psychology is more common than I could have imagined.
If somebody did a full study of punters,I am not sure whether the publication would be a comedy or a tragedy.
A look at the tipping threads is even more amazing.....some fellow can come onto a forum, use the pseudonym,Einstein, throw out the names of a couple of horses ,and the day they arrive ,they get a "thanks I made some money".Who on earth backs horses tipped by some unknown???....surely not!
I have been racing for over 40 years and have met so many interesting and different people, but I can still count on one hand the persons who could influence my betting, and that includes trainers and jocks.(one of them is on this forum...after I have done my work I have a glance at Magic's selections and if I have not included one of his selections,I will have a second look to see if I can find what he saw that I didn't)
Back to the point of this discussion,I will spend the reasonable cost of any data which helps to find a winning bet,as it then pays for itself IMO,but I'm not sure how many share that philosophy.
(BTW,data definitely does NOT include tips)

Rob - I think that the fundamental difference between the way you play and the tips you accept is the amount of experience you have and perhaps the volume of cash you risk. As an example you may risk a few grand or two on horses that you have found in study, where as others will risk lower volumes of cash on forum tips or forum tip multiples (lazy punting).
Lazy punting is a quick way to lose in the long run (trust me well versed at lazy punting). Some look for the quick fix to their financial fix and the game no longer is a game but a means to an end. Thus the problem compounds.
If you are not selecting horses on your own ability then you are killing the best part of the game - the fun of being right and being paid for it. Lazy punters may as well throw their coins into a slot machines.
This in my view is the difference - I have seldom gone over a few hundred for a win. I once put a grand on a horse but nearly had a melt down during the race. She won though (Cocoa Beach - 1st win). It was too much for me and I learned a lesson. Punting this way is not for me and I could never imagine putting a grand down on a selection found here or anywhere similar but will risk a tenner on a few of them or a tenner on my selection and a few of the posted selctions in a multiple. Can only get hurt very slowly over a very long term. A good way to learn in this school of hard knocks though.
To give you an idea of my schooling fees see this multiple from Sundays Clairwood meeting:
