Hi C&C, I live in Singapore but there is lots of internet possibilities to see the races live, easiest one is with Interbet. I did not make up the rules and to be honest all I read about it was as stated in the beginning post R100 a win bet every race... my honest opinion is this is not even fair to pick the best tipster since luck then has too much a part to play. If you want a fairer reflection
1) allow people to make changes prior to the off because of late scratching since if not luck has too much a part to play whether your selection will be scratched or not.
2) Split the selection up as a win and place bet so atleast you get consistent returns for picking close to the winner if your selection does not win. This way you get rewarded for consistency and not for luck. If you want luck go to the casino.
If it is too much work to administer I will gladly do the admin for you I am bored enough as it is in a 39 km x 29km country.
Scotland muct have atleast been a festive place yesterday after the Boks cluelessness!
As stated earlier this was my 1st week and 1st post irt the competition so apologies if I did not read the part of the rules where I am not allowed to change a scratched horse, I thought sanity and logic would prevail not giving someone else an unfair advantage, there is enough of that in SA already!
As quoted "Usual rules R100 win bet through the card at the following meetings in November,Turffontein 6th for the Charity Mile,Turffontein Night Racing 12th November(Jockey Challenge) Kenilworth the 14th November (Jockey Challenge),Kenilworth 20th Nov,Finishing with The Summer Cup meeting 27th November at Turffontein"

@Loopy Logic :
Agree with your observation.... just one 50-1 shot can make one a winner; with all your other selections not even seeing the board!
I have noted a number instances where posters's horses ran 2nd or 3rd consistently. I would suggest one of the ff:
1.
Allow 2 selections and R100 win and place on each, with the rest of the rules.
or
2.
Choose a maximum of 3 horses in each designated race, with R100 win only on each.
In this way, the consistent tipsters will have something to show for their efforts.
Otherwise, as Loopy Logic observes, 'not even fair to pick the best tipster since luck then has too much a part to play.... If you want luck go to the casino.'
If I recollect, it was yesterday that (I think Gregbucks) complained about 2 different horses being tipped for the same race and an explanation was given. Why not incorporate that?
I'm sure, that will be much more fun!

I think there should be a point system for picking the winner or if the horse as place as follows : 1st - 20 points 2nd- 10 points 3rd - 5 points. In this way chosing a 50/1 winner wont automatically make you a contender as stated by other contributors and what I see is that clan members are willing to help with the arithmetic. Sent via mobile.

Interesting to note all the postings flying to and fro....With regard to the rules...C&C correct because we've played according to these rules for the last few competitions AND this goes for the "winner takes all" part of the rules too.
Whether you win with a once-off 99/1 shot or backing favoured horses consistently, a winner is a winner. May I also suggest that we keep the FUN aspect alive for these competitions and not focus on the AGGRESSIVE side of punting because guys, we're not losing a cent!!! We're merely participating in a very kindly sponsored FREE competition that have taken a helluva lot of input from Scotia to arrange.
Let's not spoil it with over-the-top agrro' that is best left for boardrooms and/or school playgrounds!
