Very interesting after today; who had the 'better' run Castlethorpe or Galileo's Destiny? What to make of Past Master's effort? Also Captain's Wild beaten more than 10 lengths (left hand turn?) and Big City Life (something amiss?) almost 16 lenghts; only Bravura, Super Storm, Galileo's Destiny (something of a bridesmaid?) and Castlethorpe enhanced their July chances imo - and we still don't know how Igugu shapes up against any of these:S

All these question marks against the other runners and one still questions Igugu despite what she has done and she has done nothing wrong...

Ant, I'm not so sure that the soft track was a factor - most of the runners mentioned (with the exception of Castlethorpe) have done well in soft conditions before. Certainly Past Master (trying or not) should have been able to put up a better performance with less than 3 weeks to go. I remain undecided as to the July winner - but after yesterday I think that Super Storm seems to be very nicely priced at 20/1. It would not surprise me should Igugu win, but imo no value at current odds, taking into account that we just don't know how her form shapes up when compared to the other main contenders.

i agree 90% Frodo on your post .On the strength of Igugu's form though just look at her oaks win she led from pillar to post in atime 1.6 odd secs faster than the derby. To me that takes some doing .Igugu has been taught to make her own races. This is adefinite positive for her.
Having said all that she is not my top selection ,the 55kg's on her back is my concern. The apache is my 1st pick at present simply because he won the dingaans very well and then shortly coming outa quarintine he wins the daily news the way he did. He has imo more improvement to come.
Past master well almost all of us wrote him off after his queens plate flop. His trainer knows what he is doing and is shrewd. Past master has been to greyville so is familiar with the track. Shlechter in an earlier post race interview sounded very concerned about the going and lo and bejold Past master ran accordingly.
Past master will escape the radar come july day and might repeat copybook met triamph.

I'll stick with the apache for now ,he is the biggest improver .Remember what Justin Snaith said about Run for it and Solo traveller. The daily news was their mission and the july a bonus . So if run for it was 90% that day ,what will the apache do to him at his 3rd run from a layoff?

Well argued ant, I'm not convinced by the 3 yr olds though - if somebody forced me to have bet today and taking the weights into account, I would go for Super Storm each way; but it is an extremely competitive field
