O yes, I forgot about that 'max 6 points in a nov/grad race' rule; does not make much sense to me....

I already had him as an 80 (3lbs) higher,so still couldn't take that price.Backing a horse out at the (my) weights brings out a rash...lol
(made the 'safe' bet Benbow for a place)

I was on the same page as you, rob; (backed him up with Benbow in the PA) but he won pretty comfortably imo, so will still be underated imo even if he gets the 6 pound penalty

Makes no sense at all and cannot be reconciled with the notion that every horse in a handicap (except those under sufferance) should have a theoretical equal chance of winning. The no penalty rule for placing in a plate race is even more ruinous to the concept of pure handicapping, with Swan Neck a couple of weeks ago being a prime recent example.
However, from a punter's point of view these rules can throw up some attractive propositions, even if they will frequently be at short prices.
