Quickalookee followed by National Fleet, Eugenes, Swan Neck, Storm Crossing, Xilomante, Fantasia Island and City Of Bells for a straight line PA.

Speed Ratings for today, from recent previous Vaal Sand runs, showing last few runs for maidens (last race- figure next to name etc), and best figure only for other races.

Awareness of favourable draws over 1200+1450m also likely to help – low numbers, especially draws 1+2 providing the horses running style can take advantage of a favourable draw.

Xilomante

Worked out to 650/1.
I see that Magic also likes them.

Some interesting contests on the sand today; thoughts:

R2: Victory Serenade has the best form imo - and 5/2 a fair price - one for a Xmas jockey?
R3: Turkey Shoot the obvious one - could find the 1450 a touch sharp, but surely good enough to run into the PA; watch Elvis's Silver Specialist - I think he will improve with the blinkers - but he probably will be better over further
R4: Everything points to Swan Neck, but I think Mina Salaam is going to give her a race
R5: Here everything points to Storm Crossing, but rank outsider Rubnik could be good place value at 8/1 on their last meeting - Arabian Mist the dark horse (most Muhtafal's love the sand) - so it may be more competitive than it appears at first glance
R6: Another competitive event - Xilomante probably at best over shorter, but should feature, Jamaican Express should hold South Star if she repeats her last run - Elaenia has won all 3 her runs over this trip, so could suprise
R7: Difficult race again - Fantasia Island only penalised 2 points for winning last time and there should not be much between him and Lian Dancer - Rock my World was penalised 4 points for running 2nd last time which could make things difficult for him - while Wildest Dream and The Raj are unknown factors on the sand
R8: Tough race to close as well - if City of Bells likes the sand, he could prove too good, but if he fails, I fancy his stable companion to give Timmy Pretorius another belated Xmas present

I agree that many Muhtafals enjoy the sand, but Arabian Mist's style of racing from way off the pace worries me a great deal. He will be running on, but how much statrt will he find himself giving to Stlorm Crossing or Exclaim'nExclude?

Nice run from uncle Georges there,actually had a look at her and thought on her first few runs(before problem?) that she had chances

Only the race will tell - and it doesn't stop there - Exhiliration is coming down in the ratings and could surprise as well - very nice contest imo

Khumalo chose Slippery Slope over the stablemate that had a small place chance. In a desperate race, I hoped that he would improve in only his 3rd start.
