According to Nico on USO; tonight's meeting at Greyville has been postponed to Scotsville (not sure which track) tomorrow.
Regarding Turffontein, I think the going (currently posted as good to soft with 11.5 mm falling in the last 24 hours) will play a part - any more rain during the day will probably result in a soft track, which won't suit a couple of the more fancied runners on the day - so not a meeting to spend one's Xmas bonus on.
R2: Galileo's Destiny is scratched and Count Express has not raced on a soft track before, and while he is the obvious one on form and ratings, I have a sneaky feeling for The Mouseketeer who won his maiden over this trip on soft ground.
R3: We have Star Rating running here and we are hoping that the change of rider will do the trick; the stable says he is well behaved at home, but obviously he needs to be watched pre-race to check out his behaviour; I personally think if he jumps - he wins - but I'm backing him up in the PA with the consistent Super Boy. Elvis has Gale Force Var running here as well - it's his first start on turf so for Elvis's sake, I hope he runs an improved race.
R4: Not an easy race to call - especially as Nova Zembla and the well backed Pimpinella have not run on a soft track before - I fancy a bit of Candy Cotton (any price)back over a sprint - and she handles soft conditions
R5: Foreign Reserve (33/10) finished just behind Mr Ronaldo (11/2) last time on a soft track, so both have obvious claims here - consider Al Felon for the placings - he has placed in all 3 his runs on a soft track
R6: Despite being a conditions race, this is competitive - at the odds I think that Onehundredacrewood could be worth an each way nibble - I think she will appreciate a soft track - but there are quite a few others to consider - my second choice is the consistent Adorable followed by any of Fair Rosalind, Pagan Dance, Mana Mou and Waywest Goddess (who is rumoured to need the run)
R7: Competive handicap - and a lot is going to depend on track conditions - Magico is scratched, so Jinzo and Cruso could be the safer option for the PA. if not needing the run, Polar Moon could feature as well and it does not stop there.
R8: Another conditions plate, but again not easy - Gluwein is returning to her best form and together with Queen Mira seem the right ones, but on a soft track, I fancy a bit of 2 roughies in the form of Lisa Anne (who finished in front of Queen Mira in their pinultimate meeting) and Stella Mia (jockey?) to upset the applecart
R9: Mar Lodge is the obvious one, but finished unplaced when favorite in her pinultimate start on a soft track over this distance, so I think she is no value at odds-on. We have Codega (33/1) running here, she pulled very hard last time (thus the saddle slip) and in her pinultimate start she finished just more than 3 lenghts behind Micro Jet who is at 4/1; Codega has been improving steadily in her work at home and will be dropped out from a wide draw; we are hoping that she can run into the money and could be good place value.
All the best to everyone for the New Year - may all those long shots you find romp in

Don't know about the 45mm of rain at Greyville, but in Glenwood (about 4km from Greyville) I had 80mm of rain at my house yesterday after 14h00.
A very wet new year celebration indeed..........oh, and it rained like hell as well.

May you all spend many hours this year waiting for the flashing green lights!!!

If I had to take an E/W all on I would go:
Pimpinella
Onehundredachrewood

Lisa Anne
Not much confidence either!
