JOHANNESBURG - Trainer Paul Peter has confirmed that Cape Flying Championship contender Magico has been sold to Dubai, pending payment of a reported seven-figure sum, reports NICCI GARNER.

Magico, a three-year-old Dupont colt who has won four of his six career starts and finished third in the Protea Stakes, is a 10-1 chance in this Saturday’s Grade 1 sprint and his trainer believes that, with Felix Coetzee in the irons, he "should be right there’’ at the finish.

"Because of the deal he was scratched from the Lebelo Handicap, so he hasn’t had an ideal preparation, but he travelled down well - he’s been in Cape Town since Monday - and everything seems fine. Obviously he has Gibraltar Blue and What a Winter to beat,’’ Peter said.

Bloodstock expert Robin Bruss brokered the deal and says a good run in the Cape Flying Championship will "endorse his credentials’’.

Magico is currently owned by Peter’s brother Gerard and nephew Joel.

For your info pirates, magico has run a 5furlong 0.4 seconds slower than mythical flight holds the class n course record, and if that's not enough magico ran that time carrying 4kg more than mythical flight

I do think Magico is a very good 5 furlong horse. I'm not sure I would pay 7 figures for any 5 furlong animal (if that is indeed the case) but I believe he is a nice horse indeed!

So let me get this straight.

First time (with the Lebello sprint) there was a deal because he was withdrawn. That deal fell through.
Now Nicci Garner is reporting there is another deal but this 1 fell through too?

Is it all the 1 deal that went south or what?

Either way wish them all the best for Saturday

Apparently the new owners couldn't come up with all the cash, like I said in my earlier post bernard kantor also offered a million which was refused, when magico was with den bosch during the dbn season he was killing noble heir in the galops, I'm not saying he will win but I promise you he won't be far off them in the finish

Y do I waste my time, whatever you say pirates, I'd rather spend my time studying form than try to explain how important time is especially for sprinters, Pirates y do you always have to act like a narcissist

BC... I was looking at Magico's time compared to Earl of Surrey over the Vaal 1000m, Magico a definite runner imo;)
