Another mixed bag at the Vaal today; some seemingly 'thin' races mixed with a few where a pin might come in handy; thoughts:

R1: Seems to have been set up for Tamarack; but also money for Extraordinaire; impossible to tell which is the right one; Star Factor the obvious one to benefit if the 2 first timers fluff their lines
R2: Money suggests Sliver and Gold will be tough to beat
R3: Captain Winter knocking at the door and although beaten 6 lenghts last time, still put up a respectable time; not a lot between him and Kentano and I think these two should fight it out - the draw may be the deciding factor, so probably wise to include both in the PA. Grenade has some consistent form over the Vaal straight and could place again.
R4: Iron Wood hard to beat if all is well; Fort Petersburg could surprise if returning to his best; both Beit Bridge and Good on You have to improved considerably (and rely on both IW and FP to fail) to feature imo.
R5: We have Laurel Canyon making her come back here trying blinkers after a few setbacks; she should need the run, but having said that, she is well weighted (6kg's better off with Oochee Agent for a 3 length beating in the Pretty Polly last year) so I would not fall off my chair if she managed to feature here; according to the stable there is not much to choose between the 3 runners on work. Overall a very competitive race imo.
R6: Magic Penny gets another chance and is my first choice; she is weighted to turn the tables with End Of Season and I am not convinced about the strength of Justthewayyouare's last win (for which she has been penalised 5 points); Ilha Grande beat Carey's Qui (multiple winner since) in her maiden and could prove good enough to feature here - Delpech rides, so she should be ready; the race lies between those imo
R7: Not much between Dover Crossing, Imogen and Sea Passage; Imogen certainly eachway value at 14/1; I think Himalyan Hill has been given a tough task by the handicapper
R8: Toughest race on the card imo; lots with chances; I'm loading up

I survived PA on breeding (the winner) but really how do you expect punters in TABs to know this?

I hope I can survive my 11% Pa come the 8th race
