Not sure I have told anyone on here they have " no brains" even though i felt that it deserved to be mentioned?

Just think Greg doesn't really deserve it even though he did have a serious opinion about a million rand horse?

Anyway I should keep my mouth shut, people can do and say just what they want I guess.

Purely on the subject of Thandolwami needing a strong pace - I agree 100%. That could be part of the reason why he does so well in Jozi, they usually go at least a half decent clip there in races up to 1600m.

I've heard Grade 1 winners being called a piece of shit - oddly enough, usually not by the owners.>:D<

Hi All,

Magic Lips and RobP hit the nail on the head, Thandolwami is our stables and his owners pride and joy. He has taken us to places many horses will never do. He has been a stalwart in our stable and as one of my first purchaces for just 80k he has earned over a million and helped me build my stable. Every young stable needs a decent horse to get off the mark and thats what he did for us. He is a kind and gentle horse and it is like having your child slated to hear someone call him a piece of shit. RobP is an owner of mine and spends most weekends in the yard and at track watching his horses. He is passionate about every horse in my yard and was merely defending Thandolwami. Yes he is getting on in years so he may be a little quirky and does need a good pace to see him at his best, but he has given us many thrills and i just feel he deserves a little more respect than that. I have not posted here before but i feel i needed to stick up for our boy. In 46 runs he has only once run more than 10L off and 7 times more than 5L off, over 80% of his runs have been within the first 5L.

As for being overrated, he is a small horse who runs on heart. I have never shouted my mouth off about him being a champion, but when we go to the races with Thandolwami we always feel we are in with a chance. His owners have had a great time with him and we will be back in JHB soon for more.

Regards

An R80k horse by a (let's be honest) unfashionable sire who has managed to earn over a bar in stakes - anybody would give their left whatsit to own one like him. Maybe he needs things to go his way in a race, but when he's good he's good.

That race on Tuesday was beautifully controlled from the front and the winning jock surely must be a "ride of the month" candidate. The scenario mapped out perfectly for the winner, but much less so for Thandolwami. It might have been a different story if Jet Command had been there to possibly force a stronger early pace, but he was scratched and that's that.

We speak in anger at times cause we speak from the pocket as gamblers but I honestly doubt Greg meant what he said . I too have backed Thandolwami on many occasions and although he has earned his owners and stable over a bar in earnings he has made a huge hole in my pocket .

Thanks for posting Craig and hope you continue to do so . ABC needs more trainers and owners . Lots of issues posted here that requires input from a trainer .

I will continue posting now that I have registered. Have read a lot of the postings over the past 18 months or so and enjoy
dropping into the ABC box at Turffontein with Dave and some of the guys.We have a very open stable and not a punting
one so am very happy to chat about anything including my horses chances. If I can give some input or insight on any
other topic I will do so with pleasure.
