I think we all suffer from a bit of amnesia. It was not so long ago that the Laird, Marcus, Jooste combo were setting up stables in Austrailia. Big talk of this happening on T Track and from the proverbial horses mouths. There were not enough boxes for them in Aus at the time, so it was said. It then went very quiet. Suddenly there was merger talk with the Cape, a whole bunch of Jooste horses moved to the Cape region and the rest is history. Horseracing chess in my humble, possibly distorted, analysis.

It is my hope that KZN does not get completely isolated by this merger only to later have to join this merger through isolation and hands being forced. I would hold back on increasing stakes by a large margin immediately and would rather keep some ammo in reserve for the dirty tricks that may follow down the line. I still think competition is good and GC could eventually elevate themselves as a rival to P rather than a partner. This, for me, will be beneficial to racing and should give us choice on where we want to spend our racing rand and hopefully force the changes we seek, particularly in the broadcasting and promoting of SA Racing and the selling of racing as a premier product.

Lets face it, although race attendance has improved on JHB's major race days, it is still weak when compared to the Met's and July's. Perhaps P has realised that they can never produce a quality event in their own region so instead they have to buy one!

Thank you and we will all be hoping that in the long run he will repay the owners and Vets for their hard work and patience. He will(as most if not all of my 1st timers) improve a lot with this run.Lovely horse with a great nature so holding thumbs all goes well. On the thread of Kwazulu Natal Gold Circle a lot of people are very bullish about the split working well for the local owners and trainers. Holding thumbs for that to.

Byron has moved already i am told.
Yogas was in Durban last week to tie the loose ends. Has already employed someone (an EX C. Laird assistant) to take over the Durban operations.
Rumour has it that Byron will be heading the Late Miller yard.

I echo your sentiments. Should have happened a long time ago.
