Titch,my bet was placed AFTER final acceptance so no danger of "no refund"(R1066/R200)
You make a lot of assumptions to try and further your pro-tote propaganda mate.

We never pay .5/6 places unless a special from a bookies.
Races 2-4 runners win only
2-7 runners 1/4 the odds
7-11 runners 3 places 1/5 odds
12-15 runners 3 places 1/4 odds hcp 1/5 non hcp
15+hcp 4 places 1/4 odds all other races 1/5 3 places

What price was BCL when you had your bet then??? Why I ask is the place SP was 2.97 and the win SP was 33/1 and I cant remember the horse being 66/1 after final acceptances obviously an oversight on my behalf??
Give everything but up!

They were just preaching that this 6 places for the July is for the once a year punter...........either theywere talking sh!t, or they are soooo optimistic that those same once a year punters are now going to come back to punt for the 2nd time in a year......

If i hazard a guess, i would say the turnover on the tote for the win / place bets are decreasing

Only the 5 days late

DATE: Sunday 24 July 2011
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming And Leisure Limited

TAB Place payouts for the first six past the post in the recent Vodacom Durban July proved such a big hit with horseplayers that TAB will also pay Place dividends for the first six finishers in this Saturday’s Canon Gold Cup at Greyville.
Paying six places in the Durban July revitalised Place betting on the race with the Place pool accomplishing a massive 30 percent increase on 2010.
“We had a hugely positive response to the first-six Place payouts in the Durban July, both in terms of the size of the pool and comments from selected customers we spoke to afterwards,” said Phumelela Betting Executive Vee Moodley. “So we are going to stick to the same formula in the Gold Cup and will drop the takeout rate again to ensure there’s good value to be had.”
And as with the Durban July, TAB customers can take an All To Come on any race meeting from today Monday 25 July until Friday 29 July (excluding France, Italy, Macau, Sweden and Turkey) and make the last selection either a Win or Place bet on a horse of their choice in the Gold Cup.
For example, a TAB customer can take an All To Come comprising a Win bet on Race 3 and a Place bet on Race 5 at the Vaal tomorrow (Tuesday 26 July) with the third and final selection being a Win or Place bet on a runner in the Gold Cup.
The All To Come bet form must be filled out in the normal way except the player must utilise the FUTURE OPTION 1 section at the bottom of the form to indicate your choice in the Gold Cup and whether a Win or Place bet is being selected.
TAB customers must note that the FUTURE OPTION 1 for the Gold Cup must only be used for All To Come bets into the race from Monday to Friday this week. On the day of the race the All To Come betting form must be completed as for a normal race meeting and the FUTURE OPTION 1 must not be used.

Do we now "comingle" the facts or is Floyd Shivambu running the propaganda department of the operators? They have an advert with Robert Garner, Vee Moodley and Chainsaw in which Robert Garner of P mentions above 50% growth on the place bet. WTF. Come on! There is a massive diference between 30 and 50 percent. SUrely the advert and the above report are from the same source? What is so scarey for me is that there are some huge investors succesful people who have built there own empires on accuracy and they involve themselve in this? How can they be sure that there is accuracy in owners interests?

Why so much disinformation? Below is what I copied from the snippet. I added the % calcs columns : Year columns represent RMil:

2009 2010 2011 % Diff 09/10 % Diff 10/11
WIN 7.6 7.8 9.4 2.63% 20.51%
PLACE 5.5 5.7 8.6 3.64% 50.88%
JACKPOT 3.4 3.2 5.2 5.88% 62.50%

Hi all

I raised this place payout earlier regards UK racing.

Today, just after the running of the Stewards Cup(Goodwood race 4-over20 runners),there was a message on screen stating 6 placings.
Certain this place pool is co-mingled.Are south african punters being disadvantaged?
