I wont get too exited about GC and claiming to be the best - stakes for one is on a down, tracks are in shambles, betting turnovers not near Phum country, selling of tracks, old systems at Tote etc. At least in Phum country we still own some tracks and subsidise GC in KZN...

Mr Flash Harry are you saying the stakes in JHB or CT are any better? IMO the stakes in South Africa are pitful. I wouldn't say our KZN horses are b grade all together after all we did come to JHB and win the derby, computaform and dingaans!

I am not going to reply anymore to negative comments about what we are trying to do because negative people annoy me and most do not have a clue what they are talking about and that is why I never registered with the other site that I hear is closing down. All I ever saw or read was negativity and this is my passion, my life and livelihood. Pirates Pmb at the moment makes Clairwood look like a goat track and I know why but would rather race there than what we were racing on at Clairwood a month ago. Really happy that the spring treatment being done there now and can only improve. Ralph and his team doing a great job sorting out the problems asap. Well said Bad company and Eastexpo at least you know what you talking about. J pegged, without the divorce we were all gone. Just for fun I could say Cape in trouble because they got 2 left hand tracks even after Milnerton was not being used any more! Most trainers I have spoken to from all regions would love to have a yard in KZN.

Mr Flash Harry
I am lead to believe that the stakes were reduced because WC has been a burden to GC. It is probably wise to sell off a loss making entity then hopefully profitability then (maybe) the stakes will then increase.

Craig - it is not about being negative, it is being realistic about racing. Yes there are problems, lets acknowledge them and discuss without hammering the same old topics month in and month out. Maybe things are about to improve in KZN, but currently there is little evidence besides talk. To claim KZN as the mecca of SA racing is a bit far fetched - I hope it does become the mecca. I am talking from the pocket as I have 9 horses in Dbn and talking to my trainer from time to time keeps me in touch with reality. I am by no means saying Phum country is the way to go - have their own challenges.

Agree East - very little we can do from the side except focusing on what we see and hear. However, I still believe in GC and Phum there are people who are serious about improving things and hats off to them.

They all have good intentions. It's the issue about who wants to be boss.
The problem Homer, is the tug-of-war.
Each pulling the rope in opposite ends but the rope is shearing in the middle.

Guys. I think at the end of the day we all love racing and it's easier to be negative about life/racing than positive but I am one of the positive people and rather think what can we do for racing rather than what it can do for u?

I agree, we voted the board in so let them do what they think is right. Why become a member and vote them on and them undermine them by writing negatively about them. Trust me they are trying their hardest to make us the best and must be commended for it. There are some very wealthy, horseracing loving guys on the board and they did not get there by being stupid. Homer I am not sure who your trainer is but we do have a few VERY negative trainers in our ranks but that is them in life in general not only horseracing.I would not have a horse with them as all they ever do is moan and complain and I want to enjoy my racing not want to get out after every time I spoke to them!.
