If that is really true (which it probably isn't), then Wayne's reaction was perfectly fair, too. But I think we are doing a lot of guessing here, and there seems to be an idea in some peoples' heads that the horse would have won had Wayne ridden him. How do you know he wouldn't have ridden a poor race (it happens, even when they're trying their guts out) and finished worse than third?

If the horse would have won or not is not the point. I reckon Wayne should have rode the horse and just reported the incident.

@Racing Guru -
Riding a horse with "confidence" is a sort of Racing slang/old terminology. What it means is that the jockey will be a bit further off the pace than he normally would be and the horse would kick and run on the better, because of this. This does not mean that you now take a front runner and pull it out to last. That may be "over confidence". But, the horse that normally races from 2nd or 3rd, now races from 4th or 5th etc.
I suppose you could also apply the strategy to a jockey's own confidence, but to me , it applies to a race plan, more than anything else. To me, it's a sort of , "no matter if we are a bit out of our ground, this horse is just so well and so much better than the rest of the field, we will win anyway". I think that you will agree that it takes real confidence to do that. But, that confidence is in the horse's ability and wellbeing.
VERY FEW jockeys today, can be confident of winning before every winner they ride.. Racing is too tough. And why cost Owners and Punters money ? The top boys are not too bothered with tipping and giving confidence. They are innit to winnit and go out and do their best to do just that in every race.

cominging from a reliable source:
the owners(THE BOTHAS).....had a nice double to pick up on forest digger....so wayne knew about this..and in good faith..he told them to save their stake on the eventual winner...which he knew probably was the graft in the race...thats when mitch flipped and accused wayne of not being a tryer...to be fair to wayne...he decided that mitch find another jockey....because from that moment on...he was in a no win situation(excuse the pun)....they are both volatile...so it was bound to explode.
