They had an "open to all" race at Turffontein a good few years ago over I think 600m or 800m.

I think it was 500m, but I'm buggered if I can remember who won it.

Well the race you might be talking about is when National Flame won over 500m.

Im also remember reading in the sporting post another race over 500m which took place about 20years ago.
