Depends on what is meant by 'best' - if it means where are the best horses racing, the feature seasons in the Cape, KZN and Gauteng are pretty much the same in terms of quality of horse imo - PE certainly does not come close, and well Flamingo - close the place down and re-open Bloem - just my opinion

Does anyone take into account the geographical positioning of the racecourses??

Over a calendar year KZN/Cape/PE.... Gauteng racing has declined over the years, too many below average horses running on the highveld... I would then have to agree with you Frodo regarding Bloem, re-open it and let 60% of the horse from Gauteng go race down there.... Just my opinion...

its a straight toss up between the natal winter season and the cape summer season...until 2 to 3 years ago i would have said the natal winter season but the administrators in the province have changed names of races ,distances, racecourses of those races and even tanked the end of season champion stakes and moved the entire clairwood feature meeting to greyville so its run on gold cup day>>>.the cape havent changed much and they are creating a sense of racing tradition in that province while natal are losing it...they have also managed to give the fairer sex a chance of running in both guineas and also the 3yos a chance of doing the guineas queens plate group one double...the month of january in cape town as a racing purist is unequalled throughout the country with world class group one racing and the cape premier sale which in my mind is already the number one sale in the country...looking forward its a matter of time that they have international horses racing in their summer season and they have very wealthy and powerful people driving the racing product ..kenilworth with the beautiful table mountain backdrop and very fair racecourse ensures quality racing as opposed to the muckville course in pmb holding the 4 group one sprints and in future more features when clairwood is closed...greyville is a lovely course but the draw is a huge factor unfortunately so not always the best horse will win....as i have mentioned before the closure of clairwood racetrack and its training centre where the majority of cape trainers flock to will signal the deathnell of racing in natal and the cape will flourish and racing will be king there

Hell pirates take a breath now and then :D

But I agree - can't beat Cape Town in the 'sizzling summer season' (tu)

Pirates I think I asked before but dont think I got a reply. Does this mean you and your stable moving to the Cape if Clairwood is sold?

Just a question as thought I had but possibly not. My personal opinion is when and if it is sold we will be fighting off the trainers who want to move here to follow Mike De K, Charles L and others who have applied for boxes to follow the other sattalite yards who are here already but I might be wrong but dont think so.nKwazulu Natal the place to be.
