I have never believed that SA racing is crooked. I understand that some people do try to cheat all the time, but that does not make racing crooked.

I read a high level report that studied racing around the world, and racing here was considered amongst the straightest.

Online poker has people seeding the tables with their associates so you are often playing against people who can see multiple hands simultaneously. Proffessional sports is riddled with drugs and the truth comes out in books years later.

The stigma of crooked horse racing comes from thousands of stories written in best sellers like Dick Francis and all the movies made over decades. Legends and folklores and tall tales. It will never go away because wherever cheating is possible, some idiot will ALWAYS think that although he was smart...that he lost because he was cheated. And people who really aren't interested will believe racing is crooked because they have no idea how long the process is to breed, raise, sell, buy, own, train, ride, win.
