Bloodshot I know that at least twice before the racemeeting it was checked. After the 1st inspection they were asked to change a few things and that was inspected again the next day and those changes had been made but was obviously still not to the jockeys satisfaction.

Craig, the problem is that the report draws conclusions on the procedures only.
That does not really answer the real questions:who will accept "The disaster followed procedure to the letter"?
If this kind of Cock-up can happen when the procedures are correct, would it be fair to say the procedures need a change?

What was probably needed here was that the jockeys should have been there the day before as well to check the course and not waited until the day because obvioulsy what the NHA and the jockeys thought of the course was very different! I walked up to the 250m mark straight after the race and have seen much worse going that has been raced on. Saying that, it was further up the straight that they were worried about and they were 2yr olds that they had ridden and they were ducking as they had put cut grass down too early on some of the patches which had then dried and gave a very different colour.Basically the NHA were worried so the meeting should have been moved and we would not still be writing about it now. Once all the hearings are finalised I am sure we will be told the results but it is not right to disclose them before that.

Perhaps the report is misleading as the wording gives the impression of being final.
