Ravin, sure its all logical and it seems to be working and everything but not sure I could really back a horse on that basis very often. That said, this once I tried it, so... thanks!!

@mr.hawai . we all know that you are a guru in racing and i do not know half of what you know but surely karl's association with the becks is a point not to be missed and that was seen in the effort he put in that ride . a lot of posts complain of how he rides , i think that he is one of the best , it just depends how much it means to him .

It's not just the energy that Karl showed, it's the way he was prepared to take the race by the scruff of the neck virtually from the start and how he controlled the pace. That was as good as anything Strydom has ever done.
As for the "big owners" dominating, so what? cape Town is full of horses owned by the big guns, that what makes it such a hard place for "mere mortals" to win races in and why I keep saying that, pound for pound, the Western Cape has the best horses in SA. With sheer numbers they will win a whole heap of races, and trying to read a pattern into it is futile.

there are a lot of ways of studying a meeting and if this is coming from mathew lips ( " with sheer numbers they will win a heap of races " ) , then i believe that this way should overshadow all others .

How does it help in picking winners when 'big' owners have 7 of the horses in a field of ten?
