Looked like the altitude just caught him the last 300m. Cruised through to win then one paced the rest of the race,

Surely the form looks a bit suspect with Zambucca beating Wagner after finishing well behind him in all their previous meetings...can the extra trip make that much difference??

Just experience cost him the race. ( that is not from me but from someone involved with the stable. Called him a very smart horse)

hi pirates..3yos have a cap of net 78...so wfa over 1600m in march being 6 pounds he could have been rated 84 at the most...i think all the restrictions are rubbish..handicappers should be allowed to handicap..if not then make a software programme and let computers rate everything..people say how can they make main dane an 80..this is why(not speaking on their behalf merely using the horse as an example,i have no idea what happened during the rating of the horse)..say the horse achieves a 78 by beating saddhu by 2.25 lengths..on visual performance scope etc the handicappers(and the whole punting fraternity including 99% of abc posters) decide that the horse should be higher lets say atleast 84...the handicappers make it an 84..the owners phone in,enquire the rating..say how do u get an 84 to which they reply..it achieved a 78 but it was impressive so we dediced to give it an extra 6 thus the 84..what would happen??? .... connections would appeal(and win) and the 78 would be allocated..or maybe the panel decide it was impressive and make it 79/80...once again just using this horse as an example..jooste etc might not worry cause it will be running in features but my point is with regards to all horses..SA is the only country where MRs can be appealed

thks justin,i was led to believe that a horse only gets an official rating after 3 runs on the same surface so it must be very difficult when you have to rate a horse after 1 run..i agree the caps are the biggest bullshit i have ever heard of ...please will you clear up for me are the handicapers on the race programme commitee because thats the biggest issue here is the balance of races for your so called better horses ie plate races and yr so called handicapers run of the mill horses

yes pirates..divine jet was another..he came out i think 86 after his maiden which we came under stick for..yet basically the first half of the field to finish were 1st timers and maybe one or two horses had form..then all the horses came and won out the form and people were saying how can divine jet be so low everything is winning..yet obviously you dont know what the horses behind him are going to come out and run to..you cant practise retrospective ratings..it must be done straight after the race!!

yes a horse must have 3 runs before it is rated, unless it wins..cause then it runs in open company and needs a rating..which obviously makes it difficul

pirates only the senior handicapper is on the race programming committee..the racing operators make up the rest of the panel..lets just say that operators like full fields for turnover and handicaps bring full fields!!!
