geez titch...it seems as though...u are satisfied with mediocrity....if that the way u wanna live fine...but remeber..progress is defined by moving forward and rectifying faults...and if u find fault in what i say...then i am happy to acept it in the name of progress...

so in the world according to RG being unable to cope with over 200 mils of rain in less than a month equates to mediocrity?

titch u are taking this 200 mls...as the only cock up....what about the clairwood debacle.....what about the time the bend at clwd was so narrow that jockeys protested about space ..and the many more that goes unsaid...comeon titch...dont be blinded...and also titch...in this day and age ...do u really believe...that it should take 3 days of sunshine and not a sprigle of rain to race again...dont you think that 1 can take preventive methods of securing good ground....is it so difficult to gave affected areas covered as in other sports arenas...soccer fields have underground heating to get the snow away...comeone titch i dont have the answers....but i am pretty sure the solutions are out there

I wish we could find a solution that is cost effective and really works. We have been trying to find a way of covering our beach track here at Summerveld and even there with a 700m track that is 1/5th or so as wide as the grass at greyville and less than1/4 as long we have had no really workable ideas. The course has to be raceable to a good depth not just the top little laver.

talking about solutions craig we discussed the need to have a meeting regarding having trainers comments regarding their runners given to the public in daily papers etc. so firstly the public were not kept in the dark and secondly this transparency would definitly lead to increased turnover and improve the image of racing ...it seems your mates havent got the time to meet or dont really give a shit as i asked abt this project last august...you see craig its this closed door fcuk u attitude which gets peoples backs up regarding the industrys problems ...you harp on abt yr great board and how many great businessmen are on it but previous boards also had great business men on them and they still fcuked up....its simple the structure of gold circle and the way the business is managed WILL NOT WORK IN TODAYS TIMES ....all i hear regarding the daily paper issue and the track issue is why it cannot be done and not we are looking at solutions to the problems and would appreciate input from people regarding them...

without trying to sound as the bandwagon to hype up your thoughts...but this is precisely the point....these business models of gc..and other companies who continue to use archiac ideas...will not succeed in this era of touch technology

RG I think this is where you and most other posters with sentiments keep getting it wrong, you can't compare a racing surface with other sports surfaces. The sheer difference in size of the "playing fields" and how the end users affect them are miles apart. Until everybody grasps this fact, sadly a lot the remedies offered will remain impractical.

Let's use cricket as an example. I have seen posts about covering the race courses like they cover a cricket pitch. Well lets look at it realistically with 2 examples I can think of. Firstly, they cover exactly that the cricket pitch not the entire cricket field. Correct me if I'm wrong but in horse racing the "cricket pitch" is the entire racing surface. Secondly, compare the square area of a cricket pitch that is covered with that of a racing surface. You are comparing a couple of hundred square metres to tens of thousands. Covering a racing surface will take considerably more time, man power and material.

So does covering a racing surface like a cricket pitch still sound like a practical idea?

oh dear another who cannot see the point...go back 25 years dilli did the sporting grounds of the world have the same surface as they do today which sees them play a lot more in bad conditions due to weather as before?they didnt sit on their backsides and just accept it they went out looking for solutions working with experts from around the world and they do this on a continued basis as they budget for it...does racing budget for it if so where and how much?have we explored every possible way of finding a solution to the problem we face?if the answer is yes then i will catch the next 10 pick 6s straight line...i have worked for 2 big corporates in my life and if i had the attitude that gc has towards problems they would have fired me on the spot

Lets all try be part of the solution. We do have some bright guys on here so help find the solution. You all have internet I am sure so instead of writing how bad everyone and GC is just put that time into finding a solution. Pirates one of the reasons I post what i think of my runners here if asked and on Craig Eudey Racing facebook is due to our conversations. Just try do a little positive to help. It has not got me 1 extra patron or horse but I will keep doing it.Most guys have said to me that they dont mind being asked but not going to go out of their way to send out the info. If by giving the info like the Shams,Louisg and myself do really showed in extra horses and clients I am sure the rest would be on the computer early!

gold circle could easily have sorted this out..they should have organised planes to fly above the clouds in kzn and drop salt into them..simple..then no meetings would have been cancelled! :)

Doesnt salting clouds make them rain? Sure someone must think they did so they did not have to race and pay out stakes!;)
