This is old news. We've had this double meeting for several years, and presumably the turnovers must be satisfactory for the operators to be sticking with it. Those who have a religious objection to it can stay put, but please don't force those views on everyone. One Christmas a year is more than enough, anyway.

As a Christian (and I guess most are in RSA) I am not happy - it is second most holy day on our calender.

Sure, Xmas day is an important racing day in the USA. Some big race is run then, Sea Biscuit won it in his day. So with American racing on Phum now, you may even be able to have a bet this Xmas..

Then stay away. It's your right, but in a secular society no one has the right to dictate to others what they can or cannot do on religious grounds.

Noted Magic - on these days no racing for me. But as a democratic society the powers to be should take note of the majority's feelings

If the majority were offended they would not punt and no meetings would be programmed. And in a secular society no laws can be made on the basis of religion. Please enjoy your day off and let those of us who are happy to have racing on Good Friday enjoy ourselves instead of being dictated to like in the old SA.
