Should the question not be "what would horse racing do without us"

You would/will be amazed how easy it is to change!
I turned up ownership in April 2011 and suffered withdrawal only until a month end came and went without a single bill! Otherwise everything else was the same. No action. No news. No nothing. Lol.
I turned up horse punting about two months ago with the proviso that I could have a smack on the July and Met. Now that I am cash flush again I think I will pass on the July and Met.........
I was so inspired by the above that I have temporarily stopped ( as opposed to giving up ) punting on sport as well. It's good to have a break and I feel like a fan again.
I enjoy sport as much as I enjoyed racing. So I watch more sport. Haven't suffered any withdrawal systoms at all. I like to take a nap between 5 pm - 6 pm in the afternoon so I still use Tellytrack as a tranquiliser. Puts me to sleep everytime.
I would be happy to accept that I might have been an addict. Now I am not so sure. I gave up smoking 5 years ago in the same way. I would give up drinking in the same manner but that would leave me with no pleasures and a big whisky collection looking for a new owner. Not yet.
Despite being nearly 60 I am contemplating having a go at kite surfing. I saw it for the first time last week and it looks like a lot of fun. Startup costs ( FULL kit including prescription goggles and lessons ) the same as having one full horse in training for 3 months. No brainer.

Just get me right on this "kite surfing" Garrick?
Do you stand on the beach and fly a kite or do you get on a board and go in the water? I did see this in PE and at the Met but never considered it being a 60 year old sport?
If you can buy one and get one free, I will be paying you a visit.

Scotia - No it's not a 60 year old sport. But, yes, it can be a sport for 60 yr olds. They have assured me that they have a couple of guys in their 70's active in it. But whether they have gone MIA or returned safely to shore I do not know.
When they were feeding me this information I felt just like a first time yearling buyer. They all had 'Here's a live one' stamped on their foreheads as they prepared to offload their most expensive options on me!
