Whatever the circumstances one is taking one's life in one's hands driving any kind of cycle or motorcycle in this country. I remember Shirley Pfeiffer's brother, Stan Methven, founder of Rainbow Chickens, dying in similarly tragic circumstances in Monte Carlo, some years back. Sincere condolences to the Eckstein family, who were prominent citizens of Pietermaritzburg when I was growing up there. Roy was always a gentlemen in his dealings with me. May he rest in peace.

Roy was a game fellow. Big loss to our sport. He loved his horses.

Truly shocking news, I knew Roy personally and he really was such a good man. A humble man who had time for everybody. A true mensch. Wish the family long life.
Let's hope Tribal Dance and Twitter go onto big things in his honour.

....I must admitt I never knew the man....but eyed a few of his home bred horses....and I find it rather ironic that his horses have come so well now that he is not here on earth....he will have at this rate several horses qualifying for a crack at the July....RIP good man and you may look down on your July winner....(tu)
