I dont think we will ever get through that these things happen. When you on course and I am there please come and chat. I will go and get a saddle and show you. Most probably changed the length of the leather by feel as she was messing around and the longer your leather the grip you have on the horse. You cannot see what you are doing unless you get off and do it. The greatest stress on any equipment is as the horse comes out the pens and tries to accelerate to 60kms an hr in a matter of strides. As I said the stable was not worried about being beaten by the favourite.NO conspiracy!

Okay I'm not into conspiracy theories BUT why is it always ''hot'' favourites that these kind of things happen to??.... In the Cape how many times do we see hotties loosing lengths at the start, ALWAYS fancied horses...
guess it must be coincidence or is that conincidence....:S

Why is it in some countries jockeys are not allowed to dismount when down at the start?

greg it happens to plenty other horses its just they havent been backed so punters dont talk thru their pockets...craig its wonderful you have the patience to explain in detail what happened but you are talking to non horse people so rather give it a miss pal after you have had your say...

I have no doubt these things can, do,and will continue to happen.............my issue is only with the stipes report.Don't add to the conspiracy theory by reporting nonsense............I repeat ..........nothing can malfunction and be in good order at the same time!

Pirates we are only asking for an explanation not sarcasm - which we are entitled to - thanks Craig for trying to explain it - still baffling but i accept your explanation. By the way Pirates how many other horses has it happened to in the last say 10 meetings in KZN - huh im will to guess very very few as i have not seen a jock riding like that for a while - so are our questions not valid?

Jockeys lose their stirups quite a lot in races in the UK ,only thing different here is that it`s high profile(odds on Jolly) Just the other day it happened and the jock had to ride the horse John wayne style just like Kevin did.
I agree that the stipes report was worded wrongly here though, they should have just mentioned that the equipment malfunctioned imo...
Who in their right minds would sit on a horse knowing that their life was at risk?...
Another thing slightly of subject,if the MDK yard was so strong on Emotif lastnight why was she allowed to start at 9/2?
