For Gordon Igesund's sake and for common sense's sake I hope he doesn't go near the job. SA football has much bigger problems than just one man can solve. We need to get rid of the egoes ie Khoza, Motaung etc and start developing our players from young. In other words : a complete overhaul...

GB I think that we have great players now and I would venture to say that they are probabaly better than Barkers players. We had a great world cup team and there are so many what ifs as far as the opening game is concerned.

But, as we have seen over and over again in Europe even Porto can win a Champions league. Any team can win under a great manager (Leader)

I think Barker was a tough guy who did not play up to egos and bullshit and he had the respect of his players and they wanted to win for him. Perhaps another thing that is missing in soccer is pride in pulling that SA shirt over your head and simply just a lack of respect for the shirt and traditon.

Gordon is a fan of the German style of football but I am not sure that it will suite our style of player. However, he has succeeded with many a local club and many different players, so maybe he is the man for the job. He mght have a deeper understanding or insight into the South African player's playng philosophy. They are mooting Pitso's under study however - Steve Khompela. They need a complete makeover IMO.

I heard it was for the next 3 qualifiers. So they give an interim coach the task of taking us halfway through qualifiers by which time it is probably too late for anyone to fix the mess if he doesn't work out.

Either have the guts to make the call and give him the job, or hire a new full-time coach asap.

Didn't Khompela coach the u23's or something? What did they achieve? What success has he had as coach?
