Eventually attend to the incident once they done with their tenders (catering, office stationery, leasing premises, IT, etc), checking on their stakes in the taxi business & shebeens, visits to drug lords/dealers, etc....., they will investigate!
Been there also; prime suspect was seen by 2 people on 2 diffrenet occasions attempting to break in, (once, as he entered my house via the back window), finger-prints taken, ID with all the contact details given....
My firearm laptop, camera and some cash taken; fortunately, wife had gone earlier to see her terminally sick sister.
To date...... no feedback....f..all!!!
The 'apartheid' cops, at least, did their job and one could depend on them!

i got held up by 5 ppl some time ago. They pushed me into a bus-stop and held a knife to my stomache while the other emptied my pockets and ran away with my wallet, cell and laptop.
I was next to a petrol station and ran there to notify the police.............i am still waiting for the police to actually arrive on the scene......and this is a couple of years ago

@peekay:
My incident took place 1st week March 2012.
I have subsequently heard many similar stories of no feedback or follow up whatsoever.
I approached the CPF; recd a letter from Station Commander that a Lt/Colonel will be meeting me.... w..888888...ing!

REPORT-BACK: SAPS COMPLAINT
For the records, received a call from a Capt. Pillay at Head Office, SAPS just now, that they are contacting the local Station Commander regarding my incident and the lack of investigation.

Shocking. It almost looks like if it's not a life and death situation, the SAPS take their sweet time.
To be honest, i talk about the situation now in a light-hearted manner, but this scene is etched in my memory forever......the attack that is.......not really cared about the SAPS! They have let me down on more than a handful of occasions

Its like the guy who phoned the local police station and said "there are two guys trying to break into my house, please send someone ". The reply was " we don't have any staff or vehicles available right now ". He phoned back 10 minutes later and said " don't worry about sending someone, I shot them both ". Within minutes there were 3 police vehicles, a helicopter and armed response on the scene and they caught the perpetrators. The officer said to him "I thought you said you shot them " ? To which he replied " I thought you said there was no one available "........??
