Using 3G as well, Rob.
I've got a 10 gig 8ta (!) sim. Not too stable - drops to essentially unusable speed far too often for my liking.
Also got a 2 gig Vodacom sim. Much better quality signal. I plan to upgrade this deal, if I can.
Signal issues probably area dependent, I guess.

My opinion:
Telkom 4 Meg line Uncapped. Afrihost/Imaginet ( These guys do all the applications with telkom for you) Best value for money and stable if you get thru the Customer service. But much much better than years gone by.
Cell C really Fast/Service at the moment really good. Like all wireless solution confirm signal strength in your area.
Vodacom very good but kak attitude towards clients
MTN Never use them ever. so cant say.
IBURST if signal good greta product otherwise terrible and after sale service crap.
Neotel not great service. Setup a pain in the ass and dont ever have a problem cause aint getting the device fixed you be buying a new one.

I agree - I found the Telkom ADSL very good - WHEN IT"S WORKING - which in my case I have to say is almost all the time.
I found on occasion that my password was reset and then it was a nightmare to get assistance - if you phone the call centre, you are prompted to key in your telephone number up to 3 times before you get to talk to a human - who then promptly asks you for your telephone number :

I have a message saying user name or password incorrect
So I phone Telkomsa and have to listen to a machine for half an hour saying you will be transferred shortly, I then explain to the technician my problem and the time I have been waiting and he says " we are having problems with email"
WTF does anyone ever consider to put that message on the call centre number??????
