The articles confuse the issues of inconsistent /in & out form form............................. and payouts.
The large payouts are listed.............what would you prefer ........half the pay-outs for the same results???
No,the payouts are as a result of the of the many form turnarounds.The real complaint is the results.....the higher the payout the better.
There is a dividends issue,and that is that the take-out barely makes the exotics like PA's ,reasonable value..........the reason that it is not obvious is that there are no other payouts to compare with .............but the tote dividends that do have comparisons like win/place is the indicator of tote values.

I do not have the facts to support, but imo nothing much has changed over the years - yes there may be MR manipulating these day, but in days gone by there were other ways to manipulate results - this is part of life and therefor also part of racing.

So if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen - and save your money and spend more time with the family - it's really your choice

Amazing how in this game, being a kak punter is everybody and everything else's fault.

Some people aren't good at cricket, it's not crickets fault.

As some have said, if you no good at the game, if you can't read between the lines and can't manage your money.....get out !

I have been involved in Horse Racing since early 1966, yes Boys, Girls and Others from just before the Runderpest. As I have stated on other threads on this site I have been involved in betting, ownership and breeding over the years. I have met a lot of people that are in the game for a living and not just for the entertainment value, from Trainers, Owners, Jockeys, Agents, stable Employees and even Bookmakers. I used to PUNT but for a long time now I have only been a very SMALL player, now only as a hobby so I am not talking from my pocket.
Now I do not profess to be a 'fundi' but I used to have some decent returns by studying form amd not just blindly following inside INFO.
Does anyone remember the 10 cent per line Quartet, for R12 I fairly consistently won from R500 to R3500 per Qrt bet, and this with going against info I got. These bets were at Race Courses all over the Country, and of cource I also naturally lost many times.
To me the problem is with the drastic FORM reversals that are now occuring, IMVHO with more frquency, and with nothing being done about it, or made public, by those that are supposed to be CONTROL of Racing. This results in massive dividends but I ask who are winning these, surely not the average small or even medium punter, not me anymore.
Not so long ago I had the privelge to electronically have a discussion with Charl Pretorius on this subject and he concurred wrt the sudden FORM reversals, even taking the manipulation of MRs into account as being why it is becoming extremely difficult to assess any Horse Race in RSA.
I apologise for the length of this post but I am passionate about this game and just had to mention a few of my thoughts. I could make comments on many other aspets but the Wife is telling me it is time for me to go to bed and anyway the Dalwhinnie is getting low. Yes as a small punter I can now afford a few more bottles of my favourite brew which is a bargain at any price. LOL

I think it was at Tescos that I got it for 35 Quid, bought a few cases and smuggled them back home. Yes here in RSA it is not cheap, if you can find a 20 yr old so I buy the 15 yr and drink it sparingly, of course my better half would not agree with the sparingly part.

I am retiring soon and hope to be spending more time with my Grand Kids in Pretoria. I will then most certaintly go Racing and maybe be honoured to meet some of the Clan at the Races.

I said many times that I have always enjoyed punting and will always go back for more, sadly to my own detrement!
You're obviously a much better punter than most (or part of the racing scene), so why not send a few tips our way.

If you notice the very next post after yours from 'Fogwils' sums things up nicely explaining his (much more than mine) experiences and "drastic FORM reversals" etc.(quote), so I don't think i'm alone here..?
S'pose you came right at the VAAL yesterday then as well did you? (only 52 PA tickets @ R16121? and 55 Pick-6 tickets)
