Guys, just looking for a bit of info. As you know we are looking at getting into horse ownership in the beginning of next year. I have had alot of good feedback and PMs form some really helpful people ont he forum. What i want to know from the horses mouth persay, is are the clanners who own horses, breaking even, making money, losing bucket loads etc. I am not gettign int o the ownership game to make millions, but rather to get deeper into the world of horse racing rather than just from the punting perspective. However, being a figures man, i am also not keen on throwing m money away. I am also undecided whether it is better for our syndicate for our 1st horse to try get a relatively cheap horse (30k-60k) just to get the feel of the game, or do we look in more the R200k range and look for a horse that should win a few races.

Just some advice would be great.

I am a money man as well.

If you have millions to throw away and have a passion for the game , then by all means buy a few.
The best way is to get involved is in a syndicate. Costs are shared in this way.

I still do have minor shares in 2 but none in my colours. These are just private arrangements with the best of my buddies.
