Her 'flexing of muscle' thingy has me more confused than her actual run.
Must congratulate Caster on her awesome achievement (tu)

Saw a Die Burger poster this morning saying that she says she made a mistake??? Most probably a tactical error, but the race was still run in a very fast time. The winner did run the race is a very fast time....Well done Caster.....i was screaming you home all the way!

Im sorry, but there are plenty other "woman" competing that look just as manly as her!!! (did anyone see the ladies shot put??) So lets give her a break!
Its not her fault that all the girls she competes with are like sick insects which doesn't help her look any more feminine!
Well done Caster! And if she threw the race to avoid the limelight and controversy that came with it, then so be it! What she has been through, its so impressive that she even still competes!!

I actually did sit next to her on a flight in business class to Frankfurt a few years ago just after the scandal. She was very pleasant. I think she has been through a lot and is still an enigma even in the race itself. Lets just celebrate her silver.

Whatever our uninformed individual opinions are the fact is she had been cleared to run and that's all that counts.
Now she might have felt more pressure and maybe been overwhelmed by the whole occasion who knows. Yes she may have got the tactics wrong for whatever reason but running a fast finishing silver is still more than anyone else in the SA athletics team achieved.
She wasn't the only 1 to get her timing wrong though, christine ohuruogu was off the early pace in the 400 and was finishing like a steam train but couldn't get past the winner.
Let's remember Semenya is still very young and will learn from this.

Great run and if the truth be told she would have been hard pressed to win Gold the winner was in a different class
Give everything but up!

Not at all Titch.... no way the russian is in a better class... left herself with too much to do that is all.

She is a great runner..I personally think if she had run up a bit closer and hit the front early she woulda won..Silver medal is an awesome achievement anyway running against the worlds best..and they were stuffed after the race whilst she couldn't blow out a candle..next time she will walk it!!

it's a learning curve for her. She has a great coach now. I think the final was run in 1:56 odd and Semenya's semi was run in 1:57 odd. So i think her run was great and i tend to agree a little with Titch, that the Russian ran a great race in winning in that time.....not entirely sure if Semenya would have won even if she was closer up

Castor was off form coming into the Olympics and I don't think she was capable of running a low 1:56 and was beaten by a better runner on the day. She ran her own race and ran to the pace she was comfortable with and knew the time she could set, which she did and ran well into silver.
Well done Caster great achievement. (tu)

Reading the posts is like re-visiting a horse race when an odds on 'good thing' gets beat.
Just goes to show - there is no certainty where living creatures are concerned.
