Well done to Dave, he deserved it but I must say that not to include Robyn( whether she would have won or not is not the issue) on a technical fault of their own is atrocious.

What is really ironic is that the CEO of the RA hails from a telecomunications back ground and yet it is very evident by the exchange of e-mails and the date and time stamp that the RA have telecommuncation problems.

Merle Parker does not act without Larry's express approval and must have been alerted to the technical hiccup, yet they have in these e-mail exchanges concocted an unbelievable reponse to lay blame to a simple electronic communication error and thus implicating themselves in yet another public relations disaster. Let's see if the spin will win this time.

I agree that it was unfair what happend to Robyn's entries.

However, on top of all the rubbish about me having restrictions and a mandate (if I do I'm not sure what they are), being a propogandist (two articles in six years supported Tote vs Bookmakers and they were my own opinion) and churning out copy only to increase turnover (probably the majority of what I write is aimed at the racing purist) the Sporting Post have written "Maybe we give too much credit where it just isn’t due, and that is a matter of conjecture."

The only way for SP to end this conjecture is to read the articles that were submitted as the award is judged on nothing other than those two articles.

Hi all,

I've been abroad visiting family for a few weeks and slowly getting back up to speed with the world - Cornwall is pretty, but apparently not blessed in the network coverage department !!

Rather a lot has been said on the matter and I don't wish to drag it all up again other than to say thanks to everyone for being so kind and saying such lovely things. It was a pity about what happened, but these things happen. Inschallah. I just regret that it detracted from David Thistleton's very well-deserved acknowledgement. David works very hard and well at what he does and is a thoroughly nice man to boot. I think it is a well deserved award and we should be celebrating with David :)-D rather than dwelling on an administrative technicality.

I will just make sure I get my entries in a little earlier next time round ;)
