Copied and pasted from Rin...
PS One of the main reasons given by P for corporatisation was the operating losses incurred by the racecourses. Despite inserting extra tracks at various courses and selling others, they still operate at a loss. They will only become profitable when they have large volumes of paying spectators, but this would require money to be spent on marketing and competing against other sports and leisure activities. Why bother if one has a monopoly on the other money making aspects of racing?

@gregbucks - who needs thanks, or recognition, for promoting the social media pages and profiles. I do it daily for the DJ's that I manage. We promote events/ concerts/ clubs on a daily basis. It works. it creates public awareness, and interest in people and events. it has been a revolution in the SA entertainment industry. I update from my phone. While I'm standing in a bank queue, in between races on a raceday, etc. I do it on a daily basis for various racing pages and profiles. For example, Tommy Hotspur (the horse, not the cheeky ABC member from the USA
) is 21 years old. He has a page with 215 fans - it required no advertising, and next to no promotion. And honestly, while he was famous for 12 races back in the 90's, he holds no current public interest value. But there are 215 people who still want to know about him. Regardless of who has done what in the past, it is SEVERELY lacking currently. Spamming causes people to "unfollow", so there is no value in that. And seeing as it costs nothing - I am amazed at the racing fraternity's response to it....
