Spot on DA. If Ronaldo is on song United's defence will have to be better than at its best to cope, he is obviously one of the few outstanding footballers of the last decade or so and is still a joy to watch. I am not so sure Fergie will play Rafael against him, not only because Rafael would struggle on the ground against his ability on the ball etc but CR is also a fairly big lad and very good in the air whereas Rafael is not, it would definitely be a weakness RM would look to exploit. That said, defensively RM are not the best and if Fergie abandons his usual cautious approach to Euro games (nb DTF lol!!) then imo we have a decent chance.

Eng, who would you play right back? Smalling or Jones, physical wise yes but doubt they have the pace to contain Ronaldo
My concern is the counter-attack of Real Madrid, in England ,only spurs have lightning pace like them, and while we negated them to an extent on Sunday it had a negative influence on our style of play. I still believe we will see SAF play his team ,in a similar set-up like Spurs away ,in the first leg in Madrid.

DA, if Ronaldo is on song I don't think it matters who United play there from an "on the ground" perspective, Rafael has the greater pace sure but pace is no good if you've been left on your butt 15 yards back
My inclination would be to go with Smalling, I don't think he's a slouch and I think he has some intelligence about him. Jones I think not suited to right back, would rather Valencia. I don't think you are wrong about the team but I would rather see Valencia and Young causing them problems... I have always been that way. That said, Young and Valencia are no young Giggs and Ronaldo/Beckham despite what SAF may say of his squad. Lets just play football and see what happens is my view...

Rafael has matured this season best right back United have imo, United will go with Van Persie up front away from home and 5 across midfield. Possible they will man mark Ronnie or try man mark him out the game...

Deal agreed for Wilfried Zaha
Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Wilfried Zaha have reached an agreement for the player to join Manchester United in July 2013.
The player is having a medical in Manchester today (Friday 25 January).
There will be no further comment by any party until Wilfried joins United in July 2013, although Sir Alex did speak briefly about the deal at his Friday morning press-conference.
"As we like to do, we sign young players with potential," the manager said.
"We can also develop players well here. That’s proved to be the case many times.
"Hopefully the boy will enjoy it coming here when he eventually does join us in the summer."
taken off the man u website...

Spoke to an ex-pro Jamie Snowcroft at the United Cup replay against West Ham and he said he has the makings of a top player.

Reports say Ashley Young is injured and will miss the 2 matches .Don`t know about you but I have not been impressed by Valencia this season.Last season he was by far Uniteds Best Player and as frustrating as Nani can be he could be Saf`s surprise selection as I have no doubt Kagawa will start. Saturday`s team against Fulham could offer some clue to the first-leg team.
