This was an exceptional performance and is on a par with Variety Clubs win last year. The course was running fast and there was no wind , but it is worth noting that CTN broke Jay Pegs race record. The winner had plenty in hand at the end and he is still clearly improving with every run.
King of Pain ran a bit below his best and got going when the race was over, but Black Toga ran a good race from the front and Chavez de Oura is very useful although the mile slightly far for him.
On this performance and with the improvement still to come Cape Town Noir would be competitive in the Queens Plate but perhaps not yet ready to depose champion miler Variety Club.

Looks a good sort but before we start making comparisons with the likes of Pocket Power lets first see how CTN sees out 2000 metres.

I don't recall Western Winter progeny being too successful over further than a mile. Am I correct in this assessment?

Horses I can recall, Yard Arm, Reveille Boy, Jagged Ice, Set Afire, Silver Mist, Natural Selection and Chamonix plus could be many more.

Admitance and recognition of a class above the rest.
That CTN is, class above. A young horse with much improvement to come.
Who knows

unfortunately the form book shows that there are plenty that beat this horse... one day when no one thinks he can win he'll come right

The more I look at Run For its form, the more I want to brass him. But at the same time I look at what he has run behind and I get scared as his form shows he is a top sort who can run with the best!! He ran 2 Cracker Mets behind Past master and Igugu. If reproducing those 2 runs this year the likes of Jackson, VC,Pomodoro will have to ' Run For It'. But probably the most unlucky horse in training.

CTN is a very good horse. KOP also very good but this horse is better. Still cannot believe he got beaten in his previous race.

Run for It was coming off a long break and wasn't ready for that race running over a distance way too short.......trust me CTN is one of the best Kannemeyer has ever had...let's hope he stays sound! Will not lose again for a long long time.....champion in the making.
