Heard the final field will only have 16 runners because of the addition of the new track. Many trainers will be happy to hear that.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I am not sure any trainers or owners will be happy with the 16 the other 4 places are a very sought after prize, every racing person would love a July runner.

I wonder if the 6 place bet will still be available in a 16 horse field, there will be little value ...even in the July
Give everything but up!

might just allow the best horse to win more often

Why? I assume they will be narrowing the track to accomodate the polytrack.... and therefore the running conditions will be the same :S

RZW - Devine Jet - What a Winter
Class...seperating the men from the boys...Let's see what RZW is made of...and yes it seems it will go the 2200m with ease, but as for experience, it has a lot of work to do from now till April before taking my focus away from CTN...

Last time I remember at the turn of the century and it was said that the new Sand track to be laid at the Vaal was set to revolutanise Racing in S.A. Guess who was at the helm of the company that installed this " wonder track "???
I have always felt that Gosforth Park was the best laid out track for an all-weather b'cos of it's speedy bends and still feel that in KZN the Scottsville track would have been the better option.
We must be realistic to acknowledge we cannot be Meydan or Kranji and that to lay the polytrack on a course so full of bends and pear -shaped will surely favor the bias and free-striding horses with those coming off the pace chasing shadows, but that is only MVHO.
One cannot argue with the experts but should the fiasco at Greyville fail, then those responsible should do the honorable thing and resign to prevent further disasters.
