What about an Anton Marcus all to come place bet? He has 8 rides on a 9 race program and all appear to have some sort of chance, or is this wishful thinking?::o

Like the double : Bravissimo X Travel Up Front to win.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

If Joyfull Spirit can go the extra and looking at the way it won last time, there is every possibility that she will.
Nice place bet.

Good morning All,

Firstly happy new year for 2013...

My selections for today Race 8 after some very indepth studying... let me know if you would like my review for any other races as they are quite lengthy.

No. 1 Coffee Sheik : Although a six time winner, has never run over the 1000m, his last start was the first drop in trip to 1160 and ran a solid third. Coffe Sheik needs further and will be better suited over the 1200m. A top three finish is not likely.

No. 2 Franny : A quality and class horse trained by the Van Zyl stable. Enjoys all conditions and is a three time winner. This young three year old filly will certainly be tested today as she prefers the 1160m and 1200m although boasting the second quickest time over 1000m 56.84, a mere half a second slower than Krakerjack Ace. Her second last start when finishing a good second to Contador is an eye catching run and will certainly put this filly right up there. Should be race over and if she can get some cover early the race will be over at the 800m.

No. 3 Storm Bringer : A fine bred horse that has been dissappointing to say the least, tries the 1000m again for the second time, will be fighting out last and second last positions.

No. 4 Guantanamera : Enjoys the soft going and 1000m, Showmetheway has him beaten on form. Last win over 1000m was to Mike's Choice, conditions today over the 1000m will most likely not suite Guantanamera but will likely end up at the back end of quartets.

No. 5 Showmetheway : There's not much to discuss about this finely bred Dixon runner representing the Summerhill Stud. A five time winner going for six consecutive wins and a four time winner over 1000m. He has beaten the likes of Albarakah, Tetelestai and Welwitschia to mention a few. Although boasting a time of 56.20, it must be mentioned that 52.5 kgs is all this rocket was carrying on the 03rd November 2012 when beating Welwitschia.

No. 6 Sidestep : Two time winner over the 1000m and has beaten the likes of Deliver the Power over 1000m. Sidestep enjoys the softer going conditions and perhaps slightly further, the 1100m or even 1160m would have suited his running style. Guantanamera has this horse beaten on form although over the 1100m and softer going.

No. 7 Mr Mickey Mouse : Shown little over his last five runs over the 1000m, has three placings during these, two of which were to Showmetheway and Guantanamera. This horse has to improve substantially to run into the placings.

No. 8 Cool Spender : Showed a little improvement over the 1000m on the 19th August 2012 when running a good third to Sidestep. Sean Tarry's runner has alot to do against this field and will be fortunate to run into the placings.

No. 9 Krakerjack Ace : This is by far the most interesting runner amongst this field, firstly he's carrying 52.00 Kgs which is 1 Kg better off than his last second to Tetelestai. He's a four time winner over the 1000m however was beaten by Guantanamera on the 18th November 2012, Consider the facts... Going was very soft on the 18th November and he was carrying 56.5 kgs. Krakerjack Ace CANNOT run in the soft. His last run over the 1000m was as mentioned earlier to Tetelestai and was beaten by 0.75 lengths carrying 53.00 kgs, however taking the winning time into consideration, Krakerjack Ace is faster than both Franny and Showmetheway. Watch this horse today if the going is good and honestly make it my roughie, will be in the money withou a doubt.

No. 10 Kings Gold : Guantanamera, Sidestep and Showmetheway all have this horse beaten on form. He found good form last time out when beating Piano Man over the 1200m. Consider a place chance at best but his time to shine against this field will be leading this field for the first 550m.

Conclusion : Franny will contest the finish with Krakerjack Ace and Showmetheway will fill the trifecta position. Franny has too much class and will undoubtly show the boys how to run 1000m race. Good luck and please remember this conclusion is purely on my findings.
