To my way of thinking this race should have it's own day and not lost amongst 12 races on Met day.
Ze Kaiser is the improving horse.CTN on paper, miles ahead but you can have the odds on.

Karl said CTN will have no problem seeing out the distance. If so no race !! J Snaith said he knows the family and they are mostly sprinters/milers. Two schools of thought. My opinion is CTN is the only banker on the card Sat.

Maybe the Sponsor wants it on Met day......can't argue with that logic....

well, if he does not stay the trip the exotic dividends will receive a massive injection of self raising flour. The best thing is that most of us are filled with a lot of if's buts and maybes as all we have so far is the word of the trainer and jockey that he should see it out. The proof will be laid before us on Saturday whether it be in the affirmative or the negative; my personal view is that if he does win it will be hard fought and close one... queue a six length walloping of the field

Yes you can! The way it looks now, investec just want to go to the J&B. If they gave a shit about the race itself the would want to do 100th of what they do at Epsom, or something on the lines of the queens plate. Why should a sponsor believe in a race if we don't?

There was a time where each gr1 race was the centre piece of the weekend as you went thought the season. The breeders cup concept works if you create new races, not watering down what you already have. The are only about 8 Gr 1 races per year in CT anyway.

It might make sense to double up big races when they don't conflict, like the Cape Flying on the same day as the Derby. But to have races that steal from each other, the Derby-met is missing the opportunity to keep building the 'brand' of races that should be stand alone. There is no reason why the Derby doesn't regain it's stature the way the Queens Plate is, but that will be hard to do while it's a supporting act.

If I ruled for a day, the exacta from the Derby would have a golden ticket to the Met 2 weeks later, and a Million extra for a guineas pla-derby exacta-met win.
