A friend of mine got 11/2 The Apache (12-1 SP in the UK).
Interbet is a useful tool in exposing SA bookmakers for what they are - rip off merchants.
The ante-post book in SA is always over 130%, but is adjusted shortly before off to make it look as if it is reasonable (although still usually over 120%)
The SP is therefore often bigger than the so-called "better prices" that bookies offer on Interbet.
One or two recent examples, although this is just tip of the iceberg.
Dynamic best price place on Interbet just before off was 33-10 - by that stage the market price was already 9-2 and in the UK you could have got 9-1 a place.
Heads Up place Interbet best 22-10 - tote R3,40..
Lyford Cay interbet best place 22-10 - Tote R5,50.
My screen had refreshed before I could see the bookmakers SP place for one of the latter pair but for one of them the bookmakers SP was 24/10 not sure of the other.
Personally, I feel a good way of perhaps making a passive protest at bookmakers prices would be if all punters for about a month or so only ever asked for SP. That would have them perplexed.
