Agreed, he is probably a whole lot better than what he faced but he looked very leggy in the closing stages. Really fancied Dynamic who almost landed a massive coup for me, he is the horse to watch in the coming months, overcame a terrible draw as well.

I support your view bud! Although I didnt think he would stay either... This is a freak when the button is pressed. He makes up ground at a speed I dont think I've witnessed before. 2 strides, and he is in front ::o

I wasn't around back then but did Wolf Power not win or go very close to winning the July?

I think CTN is a special horse and won well on Saturday with the right tactics. Personally, i do not follow form from races where they crawl & then sprint so CTN will not have my money for the July. Comparing the times between the Derby & Met I would rather be on one of the first 8 horses past the line in the MET if i was looking for a July winner.....not that i will but if I did, i thought the two most honest runs in the Met were BBeauty & Pomodoro....

Eish....ALL you wannabees....Read TOMMY HOTSPURS 1st COMMENT....about 5* or so!!!Comparing the times and wana judge like that where KOP wouldve ended up only proves you know NOTHING about racing!!!

My opinion:
Sure it was a crawl...BUT the horse must still develope and i believe he will be a HUGE runner in the JULY...like Shrek said....not the toughest of tracks....and please GO WATCH the race again.....DID YOU SEE THE FIGHT THE HORSE HAD AT THE END????REAL CHAMPIONS have that heart!!!

The tactics of the rest of the trainers/ jockeys made no sense as the only way to try to beat him would have been to make the race a proper test of stamina. That didn't happen so jury still out on whether he gets a hard run 2000m. At the 400m he quickened very impressively and seemed to get to the front quicker than Karl expected. The ability to quicken like that and make up 4 lengths in space of a few strides is the mark of a good horse. Dean has made no secret that he is sure the horse stays 2000m and he is a good judge.
I look forward to him renewing rivalry with King of Pain in the Daily News and July.

this game is all abt opinions and everyone has there own opinion, but as far as im concerned capetown noir is a champion racehorse,is trained by a champion trainer and he will win his fair share of gr1 races.looking at the derby i like the way this horse fought all the way to the line and that shows me that he has the heart of a champion and will fight off all challengers to to win.do i believe he will stay 2000m plus in future?yes i do simply because he is a young 3yr old and he got the derby in the bag and his trainer believes he will stay, so who can possibly be a better judge than d kannemeyer, who has won so many gr1 races in cape town and kzn.this horse is definitely the best 3yr old in rsa that i hv seen.

Opinions are fine and dandy(they make up the betting market) but the reality is the race result. The horse won the Derby - does he stay 2000m? Yes unless the Derby distance has changed. He is a top horse that can only get better - Why we always need to trash our Champions is beyond me! Has anybody thought that the other Jocks all thought that they had a chance to run second in this Race(especially without KOP and Chave De Ouro) so to kill their own mounts with a fast pace would be stupid.

We have seen these threads over the years ....Jackson,Potala Palace and many others and sadly the the most dismissively rude posts have tended to be the least accurate...........lol.
On Sat morning I had a chat to a fellow clanner and expressed my view that he was a banker cos he would be good enough over the Kwth.2000 AGAINST THAT FIELD and to banker him.IMO he outclassed them rather than outstayed them!
If he runs in the Natal Derby ,Daily News or July I will lay him because he ran to a 110 in the guineas(I was more conservative than the handicappers and had him a 106) and he ran the Derby to a 93 (my rating) ,which still means he was 6.5 lengths inferior, even to the conservative guineas assessment, and I doubt that will be good enough in any of the said races, but should be a fair thing for the guineas ,subject to draw etc.
Hopefully a bit more helpful than just slinging off..............lol
(perhaps somebody could advise the "officual NHA rating" and compare their variation of the 2 runs)
