Tiger should be watching the action on TV.

The rules state clearly that a DQ for an incorrect scorecard can only be overlooked if the player was reasonably unaware of an infringement or if the player was unable to obtain the facts that would have made him aware of the infringement prior to signing his scorecard. The rules do not allow for a player to claim that he didnt know them or that he thought he was acting correctly but made a mistake through ignorance. Examples of reasonable mistakes that a player might not be aware of are say causing a ball to move but not seeing it move or brushing the sand on the backswing in a bunker but not knowing it.

Tiger took the wrong drop because he didn't apply the rules correctly. He probably had a brain freeze and wasn't thinking clearly after hitting it in the drink but he cannot use that as an excuse for signing an incorrect card. He did not make a reasonable mistake and he could have ascertained the reason for his mistake prior to signing his card.

The rules can be incredibly complex but they are designed to protect the game because its the only game which relies on the integrity of the players to judge themselves. There are many grey areas in the interpretation in many rules but in this case it's obvious. For the good of the game I hope Tiger doesn't win.

Agree that Tiger should not be palying the last round. Didnt Nicky Price suffer the same fate some years ago at the million dolar?

I think the 2 shots was fair, Tiger did not intentially sign the wrong card

Looking at the incident again on Tv now 2 shots is quite harsh since he dropped just slightly behind where he played his previous shot and offcourse dud not get any advantage from it, however it can be interpreted in different ways and rules are Rules, but Rule 33.7 covered him not to get disqualified

33-7. Disqualification Penalty; Committee Discretion
A penalty of disqualification may in exceptional individual cases be waived, modified or imposed if the Committee considers such action warranted.

Surely part of complying with the rules is abiding by the decision of the rules committee????

Originally the committee's ruling was that there was no infringement...........only after an interview with Tiger, who explained what had in fact happened, did they impose a penalty.............. that doesn't sound like a man knowingly breaking the rules.

(I am not suggesting I am an expert but I did play league golf for a number of years and,as the hazard remained between him and the pin,I honestly also thought he could go back as far as he like.(I was watching live when it happened and the commentators also got themselves confused)

I have also had a nibble for the same reason...............I don't think I know any sportsman with bigger BMT than Tiger and this might just be the kind of adversity he needs to pump him up (But amazingly that he has never come from behind to win,in the last round of a major)

When Ernie Els says he should be Disqualified, then Tiger should be Bye-BYE but What would happen to the TV ratings in the US if there was no Tiger?

No doubt millions less but rules for ONE and rules for the others does not work in the Gentlemans Game. Can you imagine the uproar if he wins after Cheating?

CHEATING

The committee had a right to decide on the punishment.
My favourite topic...is it black or white.

Cheating if you Black
mistake if you White.
the same old story.

Sorry..........my chest is now clear.
