Race5 :Thunder Dance..............I wonder if anybody has found out about this horses path to Jhb....is it raiding ?? when did it arrive??
Has the horse been acclimatising in a host stable in Jhb.

We should know whether the best handicapped horse in the race is likely to reproduce that rating??

If this info has been transmitted on Tellytrack, could somebody post it please

From the newspaper yesterday, Michael Clower quoting Brett Crawford

" Theoretically the higher altitude won't help because the air up there is thinner but she has been there seven weeks and is fully acclimatised."

On this morning's show (First Call) this issue was discussed and NK mentioned that the horse has been stabled witth de Kock for the recent past.

Imo an interesting evenings racing lie ahead (sky seems to be clearing?) ; some thoughts:

R2: Smallish field of juveniles, but 4 of the 7 look hard to split (and then there's the first timers) so 3 horses needed for the PA imo; for me I'd go Forest Indigo, Journeyman - Delpech probably shows 'intent' ('afternoon Loopy B)-) and Woza Madoda

R3: Ruby Chimes rumoured to be the 'business'' but I think Quantum Leap (2nd run for new stable and good value at 6/1 imo) will beat her again over the trip; all of RC's siblings seemed better over less ground, so imo that's a worry. Stylish Bay is consistent and definitely stays, so is probably worth including in the PA; I also have my doubts about Sanctum getting the trip; best outsider imo Action Belle who should improve more over this trip.

R4: Golden Ring does look the right one after an improved last run with blinkers, but has let the side down before in soft conditions, so that could be a problem; if it does turn out soft, Eternity needs to be considered, although imo he is vulnerable over the 2000, as is Glitter Alley; so I'm hoping it's not going to be too wet and include Smooth Criminal (sure to stay) and Signature (all the best, oscar (tu)) in the PA and London Irish in the P6.

R5: Very nice feature; the de Kock stable looks very hard to oppose here and all 3 need including for the JP and PA; for me I think the blinkers will give Ilha the edge over the 1600; not sure that Amur Affair is really a 103, and Festival of Fire could struggle with seeing out the trip, especially if it gets wet. Not sure if Thunder Dance is up to this, but if the budget allows, she may be worth considering in the P6 and JP; Happy Archer at her best would be right there, but has been off form and has not won at this track, so not for me tonight.

R6: A cracking sprint, where Welwitschia looks the right one (especially if it is wet); Jackodore runs well fresh and is the only danger; Sharp Design has something to find at the weights imo and the others really seem well held.

R7: Very weak field where Magic of Rome will try again to crack that maiden at his 42nd attempt; does look the right on his last 2 efforts, but they were around the turn and he has been beaten by both Erasmus runners down the Vaal straight; if Tempered Steel can reproduce his last sand run on the turf, he must have a chance as well, and for some value have a look at Dragon Tattoo, who was drawn wide in his last 2 runs around the turn amd could improve back down the straight

R8: Open looking maiden plate to finish; the top 4 in the betting must have chances, but for me all of them come out of weak races (and Greystone has a wide draw to beat as well), so 3 roughies to include in the P6 imo are Kalamata Baby (backed up by Woza Weekend who gets the stable jock) who comes from a strongish looking race in his pinultimate start, Sir Swarowski (improving and backed up by In Tune Too) and especially King Frost (finished in front of Sir Swarowski recently behind Senechal and has pole posistion); another imo to consider for a quartet that looks sure to pay well, is Scientist

Enjoy (tu)
