I think he's looking for dirt on racing/people so he can write an article that throws a negative light on the game. But that's just a guess.

I have emailed him...
Hi Mike,
Further your messages on ABC, the subject of doping in horse racing has been debated for generations and there has been some really sinister but as you will find out mostly exaggerated goings on in this regard with a lot of claims coming from disgruntled punters that have lost their money in a race against what seemed to be a "no hoper" who then cry foul,SA boasts the most advanced equine dope testing facility in the world at Onderstepoort and it would be a good move to have a look at how they conduct their tests, this will give you a good idea just how well the industry is in fact policed however as in any industry where large amounts of cash are involved their will always be an element that will try to "tilt the odds" as has been the case in cricket, football cycling etc but once you have done your investigations you will be pleasantly surprised at the miniscule amount of "doping" that is prevalent in SA racing,(not that this makes for a "good" story) however having been actively involved in various aspects of horse racing for 40 years ranging from assistant trainer to jockey agent to punter I can safely say that in this modern era we are winning the fight against corruption/doping and it would be refreshing if this side of the story is also highlighted... good luck with the article, Regards George

Why use a enhancement that improves a horse, say 5 lengths and take a chance with the dope test(which is one area that the NHA are zealously active-perhaps cos it involves taking the piss).
All it takes is for a horse to "lose its way" for a while(love that well used term) until the MR is reduced by 10 or more(the necessary 5 lgths) and then allow it to "find it's way" without fear of any consequence whatsoever.
I don't know if anyone else has kept a record of how many horses in recent times returned to full ability( most very suddenly)after a time being "lost" had resulted in reduced MR/weight.

The drugs are almost always an error or accident.............any smart manipulation is handicapping!!!

MR handicapping has to be accompanied by well regulated tracking of ratings or leave racing vulnerable to manipulation.

Flash there is doping and then there is doping...the misunderstanding comes because they are all put into the same category but as the fines vs warning off will show a vast majority are from negligence ie insufficient time between medication and running the horse in a race with no underhanded intent to improve the horse's performance to defraud or hoodwink the authority hence the fines handed down vs being warned off for life

ADVERTISED ON THE INTERNET:-

Biomedical engineers at our cutting edge laboratory first discovered a completely natural EPO booster for human athletes (and it’s working miracles for top athletes and amateurs around the world).

Seeing these results, horse trainers contacted us and asked about using this natural formula for their animals.

Yes, it’s a common herb, but don’t be fooled. It’s not something you can buy downtown at the health food store. Let us explain.

Quite simply, our team has invented a powerful dietary supplement comprised entirely of herbs and vitamins – based on the EPO boosting abilities of a certain strain of Echinacea in a special extract that’s astounding researchers and trainers alike.
