Golf,week commencing 6th june
12 years 1 day ago
this week the PGA Tour heads to Southwind for the FedEx St.Jude Classic. Its the last tournament before the U.S Open.
Its a par 70 on Bermuda Greens and the wind hardly blows here, players that do well at Southwind are good putters on
Bermuda Greens and have good greens in reg stats.
Brandt Snedeker is the obvious pick, but im leaving him out for I think he will have a big say in next weeks Open,he may be
tinkering with the swing and he is taking medicine for a rib injury.
So with tight fairways we are looking for straight hitters who putt well.
1.Ryan Palmer 25/1...Tied for 3rd last year and is course suited.
2.Russell Henley 35/1..This rookie is set for big things,10th in strokes gained putting and he can have a big week.
3.Tim Clark 40/1..There are certain courses you have to include the likeable Clark and this is one of them.7th last week
and this course ticks all the right boxes for him.
4.Camillo Villegas..66/1 Has made 6 cuts from 7 outings at course, which includes 4 top 20s. ive played at 6/1 for top ten finish.
Only plays well on Bermuda and course suits.
Old timer David Toms is one to note in 3 balls
The European Tour heads to Austria for The Lyoness Open.
Very flat, open track.Becomes a test if the wind blows.
1.Bernd Weisberger 7/1..i don't normally go for single figure odds in a golf tournament, but BW is 27 under par for 8 rounds at
this venue.Won this last year and hes game is totally suited to layout
2.Joost Luiten 25/1...Playing well at the moment and has power with accuracy.
3.Emiliano Grillo 40/1..this rising Argentinian is destined for a big week and lately he is becoming more consistent
4.Peter Whiteford 66/1..looks fair value,as he putts well and if wind doesn't blow putting will be a premium.
I have taken a match bet...E Grillo to beat S Dyson with bet 365..also recommended in racing post
I am as good at golf as Tiger Woods, after he shot a terrible 79 last week, which was the worst score he has shot in my memory,
I shot the same number at my course..

Had a quick look and my 1st pick was Robert Karlson. Seems to be coming into form and has a decent record here. Inviting odds as well at 25-1.
Not the strongest field so I expect someone to use this as a big stepping stone where probably a 10 under will be enough to win it. If he wasn't still injured d Johnston would be a strong pick.
