Rob I was not meaning in a bad way for us but everyone knows how much the Internet has affected the stakes in the UK , least the bookies pay their full share into the levy

Hibs ,I would have no problem with a fixed-odds tote.........take out of tax, levy for racing and a margin(a reasonable5%)
There seems to be a perception in the UK that companies who abide by the rules should be more charitable!!!!!....(just like the tax laws).....I have never heard such twaddle in my life.......................................why not change the rules/laws
Australia changed the law and Betfair pays for the product...........simple.

Bookies worried yet ? Independents have disappeared in the UK mostly down to the cost of beaming in the TV pictures

possibly why tote-establishments is an imminent opportunity for casino's
...I've not been there for quite some time and wonder if Montecasino is still operating the racing center / though still much prefer punting in comfort of home

I dont agree that all is lost.If you see shops like hollywood park in durban plus many others bookmakers are here to stay.In the UK shops are small,no bar etc but in SA they are entertainment centres and cater to punters needs. If the outlets in the UK could follow our lead it might save the day.

That's a fair comment Whitehouse the punters that come to the pub put their bets on at Betting World in water glen and it's a disgrace, no facilities for anything rather than sit there they want to watch and have drink and food, if they had a hollywood set up in the eastern suburbs would be the answer
