a few runs back in a pre race interview, the Trainer said this horse will be defending its Gold Vase title again.
Very surprised to see it in the final field.

If that's true, then the connections have probably already set their sites on the Gold Cup - and it would suit both their other runners, especially No Worries who needs a strong pace from the 19 draw - with a strong pace, I think No Worries will prove the best of the 3 yr olds - just have a look at his run in the Daily News, came past CTN and WH in the last 400. Where to put the 3 yr olds in relation to the older runners, that's the question.

Pomodoro imo while he should be in the first 6, has a real tough task to win - last year (at 28/1) just beat Smanjemanje, and now carries 60 - on the Garden Challenge there is nothing between P and White Line Fever and WLF is held on Summer Cup form (yes it's a long time ago) by Wagner - so P no value at 5/1 imo - only positives I can find is Striker and his smashing gallop

Tribal Dance, I agree with Mr H that he is good place value, was switched in the 1900 and could have finished closer to Jet Explorer who he holds on the Sledgehammer run - winner over the trip, so no stamina doubts, and would not surprise me if he finishes in front of his stable mate.

Punta Arenas another who would be suited by a strong early pace, and also looks good place value to me; weighted to turn around the form with H54 and is 6.5 kg's better off with Pomodoro for a 2.25 length beating in the Pinnacle Stakes over 1400 behind Variety Club

Would like to hear the Clan's opinion on Do You Remember; I think she is too high in the ratings and will struggle at the weights in this company.

I think the race is wide open; my top 4 at this stage would be: Run For It, Tribal Dance, Punta Arenas, No Worries; but place chances to most of the rest excluding DYR, Love Struck and Wild One

Frodo that Tribal Dance has won C/D which will help him I think (the last we agreed upon was JET BELLE who placed at long odds so I am happy with your confirmation)

Yes Mr H, I remember that (and I did mention that TD is a 'winner over the trip' - which for me means 'has won over C/D' ;))

But one can make a case for many runners, so for those 'once a year' punters, I would advise to have a look at the 20/1 to 30/1 runners, pick one or two (or three) and have an each way flutter.

DYR towards the rear as reflected by times of last runs.

I wasn't implying you were wrong, just meant that plans may change before the day ;)

After watching the races at clairwood and the july gallops/the tracks in particular i have to say that its gonna take a serious horse to win it this year... So i am sticking with my gut and going with seal... Maybe roving with astro news and f for quartet.
