Yes ,even South Africa brought in illegal workers ,to mine the mines and cut sugar cane etc ,,that does not make it RIGHT those days are over, we have a new Government now and we are all one nation
There are many foreigners that are exploited and paid below average wages which is also not on

It is illegal to employ a foreigner without a work permit you can be fined anything from R25000 and up ,,why do you think this is so ,,its to stop taking other peoples jobs
If you take 1 job away from someone here their entire family will suffer as they might be the only bread winner
If we had a higher employment rate ,I can almost guarantee the crime rate would drop

The Zimbabwean government has now complained about the high number of nationals deported by South Africa. This comes against the background of an apparent hardening of attitudes towards refugees from the South African government.

The story of Johannesburg-based illegal immigrant Ndadzoka Pamberi, which is not her real name, is a familiar one.

After spending a week at the Lindela repatriation camp awaiting deportation, Pamberi was taken by train to Musina, then across the border into Zimbabwe in a police truck.

While in custody at Lindela, she operated a makeshift hair salon, plaiting female immigration officers' hair for a fee. That money would later pay for her transportation back to Johannesburg from Beit Bridge.

"When you get to the Zimbabwean side, they don't arrest you because you didn't commit any crime in that country," she said. "They let you free and you go wherever you want."

Pamberi planned her return to Johannesburg as soon as the South African police handed her back to her country's officials.

Living illegally
"By 4pm I hit the road, walking in the bush for about two hours until it got dark and we started walking by the side of the road," she said.

She made it back to Johannesburg on the same day.

Malayishas, Zimbabwean nationals who transport fellow citizens' groceries and other parcels from South Africa to Zimbabwe, provided transport back to Johannesburg, said Pamberi. "When you see a car that flashes its lights twice you run to that car because you know that's the one that's safe to use," she explained.

She went on to spend eight more years in South Africa illegally, paying her way out of arrest several times.

Hers is the story of many Zimbabweans living illegally in South Africa and defying efforts to send them back home.

The Zimbabweans had a much higher level of education than their South African counterparts, at least at the turn of the century, and if they had lived in a democracy MCP would have ruled since the late 90s.

and there would have been no need to run to SA

The fines imposed are not to stop employment of illegal workers, its just serves to raise funds.

Plenty plenty people employ what is deemed an illegal worker, these are the same people that complain about pot holes and complain about foreigners......

But the people also have so,e other things in common

They dont vote
They bribe cops when caught drinking and driving or speeding
The dodge tax

Titch is correct, its not just easy to go back. Morgan ( the challenger) was himself attacked and beaten up a few years ago. I have no doubt that many fear for their lives and dont hence can never go back.

The simple solution is give an amnesty, let the current become legal and let sa prosper.


In the uk we had an influx of polish people 8 years or so ago. The real fact is they wanted to work amd di work harder than some and therefore they became a threat.

I cannot believe that if there were 2 candidates for a position and one was xhosa and the other zimbo that the local lad would not get the job.

Maybe there are 39 candidates and 37 are zimbos ?

We have the same problem in Scotland with the English,they leave their towerblocks and inner cities and try and seek a better life in ALBA.But they are Ignorant and Arrogant and find it hard to spell Whisky correctly so usually don`t stay long...

A friend of mine went home to Zim to vote. They had had his grand parents the wife's grand parents as well as their parents on the voters roll but not theirs. This was in HARARE and this couple is in there late 50s.Hows that for rigging Mr Umpire.
